A man boards the tube late at night.
It is empty except for a woman he finds strangely alluring. She looks just like him.
His face grows towards hers, and hers to his.
Not a word is uttered, this is their moment to lose themselves in each other.
But ultimately they are just passing ships in the night.
Directed by Ross Neil and Matt Clark, with thanks to HSI London.

Defoe was a short film by Ross Neil, for which I provided all the Visual Effects work in a very tight deadline.
At it’s most basic this was removal of footprints in the sand from the crew, to various matte/sky replacements, explosions, lasers, and entire CG shots.

WCRS approached me to design some gnome characters for a cinema and print campaign for The Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC).
The final characters were to be turned into real models/puppets. You can see the ideas started as a modernised traditional gnome, and moved to a more ‘muppet’ like puppet gnome.
Our finished designs were turned into 3d CG models as reference for the puppet makers to work from.

Bears³ was developed with Matt Everit back in 2004. Matt created some simple, cute bear characters and animated them to audio from Ricky Gervais’s hugely successful Xfm podcasts.
Ricky loved them and recorded additional audio for us to make an original short, with an idea to perhaps turning them into something bigger. It never materialised in the end, and ultimately the podcasts were turned into another show many years later.
The Bears were the subject of much controversy in 2006/7 when adverts for the Irish Lotto were considered to have ‘borrowed’ stylistically from our animations, and featured in the national press:
The Metro 31/01/2007
The Sunday Times 11/03/2007
We did take legal advice, and despite a strong case it would have been prohibitively expensive to pursue.
I was lead character artist on the cult strategy game Evil Genius, published by Elixir Studios in 2004.
I personally modelled, textured and rigged every character in the game, working closely with character designer Siku.
Title: Jedi Knights CCG
Client: Decipher Inc
In 2001 I freelanced for Decipher Inc, making 3d models of a number of Star Wars characters for their customisable card game ‘Jedi Knights’.
Originally I supplied models for the in house to use in their designs, but later on I was designing and rendering certain cards myself, a selection of both is shown here.
Whilst quite not great by todays standards, I look back with a pride at what I achieved with given the limitations of the computers and software at the time.
