Bears³ was developed with Matt Everit back in 2004.   Matt created some simple, cute bear characters and animated them to audio from Ricky Gervais’s hugely successful Xfm podcasts.

Ricky loved them and recorded additional audio for us to make an original short, with an idea to perhaps turning them into something bigger.  It never materialised in the end, and ultimately the podcasts were turned into another show many years later.

The Bears were the subject of much controversy in 2006/7 when adverts for the Irish Lotto were considered to have ‘borrowed’ stylistically from our animations, and featured in the national press:

We did take legal advice, and despite a strong case it would have been prohibitively expensive to pursue.
